Christmas Decorations
One of my favorite things about Christmas is decorating. I love the lights in particular. During this dark time of year, Christmas is definitely a bright spot of the winter. Merry Christmas!

The Princess Bride
The movie The Princess Bride was on tv last night. It is my favorite movie of all time. I can't believe I don't own it. Anyway, I'm just thankful for the people who made this movie.

“Don't rush me sonny. You rush a miracle man , you get rotten miracles.”

A Warm Cup of Cocoa
It is absolutely freezing out today. It's one of those days that just chills you to the bone... and I'm so thankful for the chance to curl up with a hot cup of cocoa and a good book.

The Smell of Fresh Laundry
Today, I'm thankful for my washer and dryer and how easily it is to get my clothes clean and fresh-smelling. For so many thousands of years and in so many places still around the world, laundry is such a chore - bringing it down to the river or carrying water for miles back to your home in order to do it there. And still, the clothes don't always get fully clean or they can be stiff when they dry. I have been, at times, travelling or in third world countries where I've had to do my laundry like this, and I never want to take these things for granted.

A Great Day With Family
Today, I'm thankful for a wonderful Thanksgiving! It was the first time when it was at my house and where I coordinated the menu. Everything was perfect and there was so much good food. I'm also thankful for my mother, father, and mother-in-law for helping to prepare such a tasty meal.

For the ability to be perfectly imperfect...
When I was a kid, I was a bit of a perfectionist. Always the straight A student. As I've grown older, I've realized that its our imperfections that make us (and life) interesting.

Going back in time...
Today is daylight savings. I knew about it, but then at one point I had totally forgotten about it. My computer clocks automatically change, but not other clocks, like on my microwave. At one point today I was wondering what was going on because it seemed like time was going by so slowly because I looked at one clock at one point and then a different clock at another point. Anyway, I'm thankful to have an extra hour...even if its only theoretically.
For antipersperant/deodorant
Its definitely a simple thing... but have you ever had a day where you forgot to put it on before going out the door? Thats when you realize how much you appreciate it.

My Moshe
This is my little kitty, Moshe. He was born in my garage. His paws have 6 little toes. His name was originally Oreo. Then it was Milton Friedman. Then it was Cat Stevens. Then it was finally Moshe. He's a silly kitty. He's afraid of his own shadow.. literally. He sleeps like 22 hours a day. He loves to purr and cuddle and he's sitting on my lab right now. So thankful...

Autumn in New England!
This week's weather has been spectacular. It's Indian Summer.. which is the best of both worlds - warm days (but not too warm), cool breezes, and the ever changing landscape of colored trees.

Water...
Where would we be without water? We wouldn't exist. We are made from water and we survive because of water. Last week something happened with our electrical system where our well pump wouldn't work and we didn't have water for a few hours. It was amazing to see how much I use water and take it for granted. I am so thankful for water, as well as the usual way that it is so easily obtained in the country that I live in!

Sisters
My sister was just visiting tonight and the whole family came over to our house for dinner. She took this photo and put it with one from when we were kids... and just posted it on facebook. I feel so grateful for a sister like her.

Plumbing...
It's amazing how much we take plumbing for granted until we have to fix something or figure out how to get water out to a needed place in my yard...

Memorial Day Weekend
Even though Memorial Day should be a somber day of reflection upon those who gave their lives in war, I think its wonderful that it has really turned into a celebration. We are thankful for their lives and for our lives. Memorial day weekend in Vermont is also all about celebrating the beginning of summer, with farmers markets opening, yard sales on every corner, and backyard picnics.
